JNC Seeks Comments on Candidates for Superior Court Appointment

The D.C. Judicial Nomination Commission is inviting comments from the bench, bar, and public regarding the qualifications of 21 candidates for pending vacancies on the D.C. Superior Court created by the retirement of Judges William W. Nooter and John M. Campbell.

Board on Professional Responsibility Approves Rules Amendments

On December 20, the D.C. Court of Appeals Board on Professional Responsibility issued Administrative Order 2022-2 promulgating amended Board Rules 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 2.6, 2.7, 2.8, 6.1, 7.17, 11.2, 11.9, 17.4(e), and 19.8(e). The new rules take effect January 19.

Bar Seeks Comment on Proposed Amendments to D.C. Rule 1.15

The D.C. Bar Rules of Professional Conduct Review Committee is seeking public comment on a proposal to amend D.C. Rule of Professional Conduct 1.15(e) and related commentary. Comments are due by close of business on January 31, 2023.

On December 13, employment law expert Robert B. Fitzpatrick led a D.C. Bar virtual program summarizing some of the Court’s key holdings in cases dealing with employment law and arbitration.

Jack Metzler Joins ODC as Senior Assistant Disciplinary Counsel

The District of Columbia Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC) has appointed Jack Metzler as senior assistant disciplinary counsel in charge of the office’s appellate division. Metzler will succeed Myles Lynk, who is retiring at the end of the year.
