D.C. Courts Appoint Herbert Rouson as Executive Officer
Herbert Rouson Jr. was sworn in as executive officer of the D.C. Courts on July 19 following his appointment in May by the Joint Committee on Judicial Administration.
The D.C. Bar will be closed from December 23, 2024, to January 1, 2025, including the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center and clinics.

On July 9 the D.C. Judicial Nomination Commission announced that a vacancy on D.C. Superior Court will result when a current judge assumes the seat of Chief Judge Anita Josey-Herring upon her retirement, effective October 1, 2024.

The D.C. Bar pays tribute to former judge Ricardo Manuel Urbina, who blazed paths in the legal community as the first Latino judge on D.C. Superior Court as well as on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Urbina passed away in June at age 78 of Parkinson’s disease.

On June 21 D.C. Superior Court added two more judges to its roster, welcoming Tanya Monique Jones Bosier and Judith Pipe as its newest associate judges. Jones Bosier and Pipe, both former magistrate judges of the court, were sworn in by Chief Judge Anita Josey-Herring.
