D.C. Courts to Operate Under Emergency Schedule

Due to scheduled protests downtown, the D.C. Courts will operate on an emergency schedule from March 1 through March 4. All remote oral arguments in the D.C. Court of Appeals and remote hearings in D.C. Superior Court will proceed at their originally scheduled time. Criminal trials currently in progress in Superior Court will proceed but may be suspended on short notice.

Judicial Nomination Commission Announces Two Superior Court Vacancies

On February 24 the D.C. Judicial Nomination Commission (JNC) announced two vacancies on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia resulting from the retirement of Judge William M. Jackson and Judge Gerald I. Fisher, effective March 31, 2022, and August 31, 2022, respectively.

Bar Corporation, Finance and Securities Law Community, considered the question, with some financial experts coming out in favor of these somewhat risky financial instruments.

Superior Court Extends Rules Emergency Through May 18

The Superior Court of the District of Columbia issued Administrative Order 22-04 on February 17, 2022, extending for 90 days the rules emergency first declared on May 26, 2021, and later extended. Rules of Criminal Procedure 62(c)(1), (c)(2), (c)(3), (c)(4), (d)(1), (d)(2), (d)(3), and (d)(4) shall be effective during this period.
