On July 14 the Superior Court of the District of Columbia issued Administrative Order 22-12 authorizing the National Center for State Courts (NCSC) to inspect, compile, and analyze data and information from parentage records to conduct analysis for the District of Columbia Courts’ Racial Equity Project.

On July 11 the Superior Court of the District of Columbia issued Administrative Orders 22-10 and 22-11 regarding access to juvenile justice data. The first authorizes the Office of the Attorney General of the District of Columbia (OAG) to share case records and law enforcement records of juveniles in the delinquency system with researchers at the Urban Institute for the purposes of evaluating OAG’s restorative justice prosecution program.

The District of Columbia Court of Appeals issued Order No. M-277-21 on June 22, adopting amendments to Rule 49 on the unauthorized practice of law (UPL). The revised rule takes effect on August 22.

On June 24 the Superior Court of the District of Columbia issued Administrative Order 22-09 regarding the establishment of post-commitment juvenile attorney panel members. This order supersedes Administrative Order 22-08 issued June 8.
