The Intellectual Property Law Community is comprised of lawyers in private, public, and corporate practices. It provides a forum for addressing intellectual property law issues that affect individuals, small businesses, corporations, and public policy.

The Community sponsors committees in the areas of copyright, trademark, patent and trade secret law—and one for new practitioners—that organize and sponsor programs throughout the year on topics of general interest, current issues and practice tips. The IP Law Community, one of the Bar’s largest and most active, offers unique opportunities to hear and meet with speakers at the forefront of their fields.

The community has a history of creating and coordinating innovative programs that reflect a deep commitment to the welfare of the District of Columbia and its residents. The community has been involved in judging science fairs in the D.C. Public Schools (DCPS) and matching computer donors with these schools, holding book drives, promoting literacy programs, and participating in community clean-ups.
