Commission Seeks Comment on Judge Blackburne-Rigsby’s Reappointment

The D.C. Commission on Judicial Disabilities and Tenure is inviting comments on the qualifications and fitness of Chief Judge Anna Blackburne-Rigsby, who is seeking reappointment as associate judge of the D.C. Court of Appeals for another 15-year term. Blackburne-Rigsby’s current term expires August 14, 2021.

Comments may be submitted in writing to the commission’s office at 515 Fifth Street, N.W., Room 246, Washington, D.C. 20001, or by email at [email protected]. The deadline to submit comments is Friday, May 28.

The identity of any person submitting comments will be kept confidential unless the commenter authorizes the disclosure of his or her name.

Bar Leaders Sound Alarm on Steep Cuts to D.C. Civil Legal Aid Funding

D.C. Bar President Charles R. Lowery Jr. and D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center Executive Director Kelli Neptune joined more than 100 representatives of legal services organizations on April 25 in calling for the restoration of more than $21 million in access to justice funding that D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser is seeking to cut in her fiscal year 2025 budget proposal.
