Superior Court Issues Order Regarding Juvenile Data on Gun-Related Offenses

April 12, 2021

On April 9 the Superior Court of the District of Columbia issued Administrative Order 21-04  authorizing the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) to provide the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education (ODME) with identifiable information on juveniles arrested for carjacking and gun-related offenses from January 1, 2020, through March 31, 2021. Intended for use in a presentation at the CJCC Principals’ meeting on April 21, 2021, this data includes name, date of birth, address, offense date, arrest date, and charge description.

The order further permits the ODME to present aggregate educational information on the juveniles, such as their school at the time of the offense, the number of excused and unexcused absences during school years 2019–2020 and 2020–2021 (to date), and the number of suspensions or expulsions during that time
