JNC Recommends Nine Candidates for Superior Court Vacancies

May 26, 2022

The District of Columbia Judicial Nomination Commission has recommended nine attorneys for President Biden’s consideration to fill the judicial vacancies on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia created by the retirement of Judges Fern Flanagan Saddler, William M. Jackson, and Gerald I. Fisher. The president has 60 days to select a nominee for each vacancy.

The nominees for Judge Saddler’s position are Elizabeth “Liz” Aloi, an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia; Superior Court Magistrate Judge Sherri Beatty-Arthur; and Marie Arnolda E. Beaujuin, enforcement manager with the D.C. Office of Human Rights.

To fill Judge Jackson’s position, the commission recommends Superior Court Magistrate Judges Rahkel Bouchet and Tyrona T. DeWitt, as well as Eric S. Glover, general counsel for the D. C. Department of Corrections.

The candidates to fill Judge Fisher’s vacancy are Emily A. Gunston, deputy attorney general for legislative affairs and policy at the D.C. Office of the Attorney General, and Superior Court Magistrate Judges Tanya M. Jones Bosier and Lloyd U. Nolan Jr.
