April 04, 2023

The District of Columbia Superior Court is seeking comment on proposed amendments to its criminal, civil procedure, and domestic relations rules. Written comments must be submitted by 5:30 p.m. on May 3, 2023.

Unless the proposed amendments are withdrawn or modified, the Superior Court Rules Committee will recommend to the court’s Board of Judges that the amendments be approved and adopted.

Subsections (a)(1)(G) and (b)(1)(C) of Criminal Rule 16 have been amended to incorporate the 2022 amendments to Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 16 regarding parties’ obligations to disclose information about expert testimony.

Civil Procedure Rule 54-II and Domestic Relations Rule 54-II have been substantially amended and reorganized to implement the Expanding Fee Waivers for Low-Income Litigants Amendment Act of 2022.
