Comment on Candidates for Superior Court Appointment

The D.C. Judicial Nomination Commission is inviting comments from the bench, bar, and public regarding the qualifications of nine candidates for the pending vacancy on D.C. Superior Court created by the retirement of Judge Anita Josey-Herring. The commission will submit the names of three applicants to the president of the United States for his consideration.

The commission has created a web-based survey to facilitate the comment process and has posted the applicants’ biographical sketches here. Comments may also be provided to the Judicial Nomination Commission via mail at 515 5th Street, NW, Suite 235, Washington, DC 20001; email to [email protected]; or fax to (202) 879-0755. The deadline is 5 p.m. on November 1.

Rules of Professional Conduct 1.6 (Confidentiality of Information), 1.7 (Conflict of Interest: General Rule), 1.8 (Conflict of Interest: Specific Rules), 1.16 (Declining or Terminating Representation), and 5.6 (Restrictions on Right to Practice).
