Board Report and Orders (May 2, 2025)

Summary: In re Vi Bui. Bar No. 997469. May 2, 2025. Bui pled guilty to corruptly endeavoring to obstruct or impede the due administration of the Internal Revenue Code, in violation of 26 U.S.C. § 7212(a), in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Bui admitted to helping form illegal tax shelters, assisting with the filing of false tax returns, fabricating records he understood would be used in an audit, and submitting falsified records he understood would respond to an IRS audit. The Board on Professional Responsibility did not find that a conviction under 26 U.S.C. § 7212(a) is a crime of moral turpitude per se, but recommended disbarment pursuant to D.C. Code § 11-2503(a) because the facts of Bui’s crime involve moral turpitude.

Summary: In re Vi Bui. Bar No. 997469. March 3, 2025. Bui was suspended on an interim basis based upon his conviction of a serious crime in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
