Superior Court Reinstates Temporary Amendments to Domestic Violence, Juvenile Rules

On February 10 the Board of Judges of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia approved the immediate reinstatement of temporary amendments to Rule 5 of the Rules Governing Proceedings in the Domestic Violence Division and Rule 43 of the Rules Governing Juvenile Proceedings.

Promulgation Order 22-01  reinstates amendments to the alternative service provisions in Domestic Violence Rule 5 in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, effective until June 30, 2022.
 
Promulgation Order 22-02  reinstates amendments to Juvenile Rule 43, which added a new section that provides explicit authority for the court to conduct proceedings by video or telephone conference if the chief judge has issued an order under D.C. Code § 11-947 (2019 Supp.) based on COVID-19 and if there is a case-specific finding. The temporary amendment will remain in effect until December 31, 2022.
