Superior Court Enacts Rule of Criminal Procedure 62 Regarding Rules Emergency

On May 17 the D.C. Superior Court Board of Judges issued Rule Promulgation Order 21-04 enacting Rule of Criminal Procedure 62. The new rule, which takes effect immediately, grants the chief judge the ability to declare a rules emergency and authorizes the court’s temporary departure from certain provisions of the criminal rules. The Joint Committee must consent if the chief judge declares a rules emergency for a period of more than 14 days or an extension of a rules emergency past the 14th day.

Spagnoletti as the recipient of its 2025 Bolton Award for Outstanding Bar Leadership, the organization’s highest accolade for professional excellence.
