On May 17 the D.C. Superior Court Board of Judges issued Rule Promulgation Order 21-04 enacting Rule of Criminal Procedure 62. The new rule, which takes effect immediately, grants the chief judge the ability to declare a rules emergency and authorizes the court’s temporary departure from certain provisions of the criminal rules.
