Superior Court Amends Rules Governing Domestic Relations Proceedings

January 03, 2023

On December 22 the Superior Court of the District of Columbia issued Promulgation Order 22-14 amending Rule 4 of the Rules Governing Domestic Relations.

Revised subsection (c)(2) provides greater flexibility for plaintiffs and petitioners to accomplish service by using the court’s electronic filing system and other electronic service methods. Also, under revised subsection (c)(3), the court should take privacy concerns into consideration when deciding to authorize service at the defendant’s place of employment.

The amendments take effect immediately.
