Judicial Nomination Commission Announces Superior Court Vacancy

On April 14 the D.C. Judicial Nomination Commission (JNC) announced a vacancy on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia resulting from the retirement of Judge Fern Flanagan Saddler, effective April 22, 2022. The commission invites qualified individuals to apply for the vacancies by noon on Monday, May 2. Application materials and instructions are available on the JNC website.

Individuals who applied by the March 31, 2022, deadline for the openings created by the retirement of Judges William M. Jackson and Gerald I. Fisher need only submit a Letter of Interest and JNC Form 21A; these applicants need not submit the additional forms requested on Form 21A.

The D.C. Judicial Nomination Commission (JNC) is inviting qualified individuals to apply for a vacancy on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia resulting from the resignation of Judge Maurice A. Ross, effective February 27, 2026. The deadline to apply for the vacancy is noon on March 12.

The D.C. Bar is paying tribute to Robert Lester Weinberg, president of the Bar from 1978 to 1979, who died of natural causes on February 19 at his home in Arlington, Virginia. He was 94.
