D.C. Bar to Hold Special Membership Meeting in April

March 01, 2022

On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, the D.C. Bar will hold a special membership meeting for all active Bar members to vote on renewing the Bar’s authority to: (1) lobby Congress on funding for D.C. Courts, (2) make public statements in support of funding for proposals recommended by the D.C. Access to Justice Commission that would improve the delivery of civil legal services in the District, and (3) make public statements to support the timely confirmation of judges to the D.C. Court of Appeals and D.C. Superior Court.

This year, attending members also will be asked to consider a new resolution that would permit the Board of Governors to make non-partisan public statements and recommendations about the independence of the judiciary and the role of the profession in supporting and advancing the rule of law. Further details and the full text of the proposed resolutions are available at www.dcbar.org/specialmeeting.

The special membership meeting will take place virtually from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Eastern. For questions, please email [email protected].
