Summary: In re Mark L. Hessel. Bar No. 333344. April 27, 2023. In a reciprocal matter from Maryland, the D.C. Court of Appeals imposed reciprocal discipline and disbarred Hessel and ordered that prior to filing a petition for reinstatement, Hessel must first be reinstated to practice law in the state of Maryland. In Maryland, Hessel admitted to violating rules relating to competence, scope of representation, diligence, communication, fees, protecting client interests upon termination of the representation, expediting litigation, fairness to opposing parties, respect for the rights of third persons, dishonesty, and conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice.
