Summary: In re Larry E. Klayman. Bar No. 334581. September 15, 2022. The D.C. Court of Appeals suspended Klayman for 18 months with fitness. When retained to represent a client in a sexual harassment allegation against a coworker, and while unsuccessfully pursuing his own romantic interests in the client, Klayman violated several D.C. Rules of Professional Conduct. He failed to communicate with his client as reasonably necessary to permit her to make informed decisions regarding the representation, failed to follow her instructions about the objectives of the representation, represented her despite a conflict of interest between his client’s interests and his personal interests, and breached his duties of confidentiality to his client, violating Rules 1.2(a), 1.4(b), 1.5(c), 1.6(a)(1), 1.6(a)(3), 1.7(b)(4), and 1.16(a)(3).
