Committee on Unauthorized Practice of Law Announces Vacancies

The District of Columbia Court of Appeals is seeking applications to fill attorney vacancies on
its Committee on Unauthorized Practice of Law (CUPL). The deadline to send applications is Friday, May 29, 2026.
The CUPL is charged with enforcing the provisions of the Court’s Rule 49 governing unauthorized practice and with issuing opinions interpreting Rule 49. CUPL members conduct investigations and participate in compliance decisions.
CUPL members, who must be admitted to the D.C. Bar, are appointed to three-year terms, which can be renewed. The CUPL ordinarily meets on the second Thursday of each month from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
