Apply for Board and Commission Vacancies

The D.C. Bar Board of Governors is seeking candidates for appointment in the fall to the D.C. Commission on Judicial Disabilities and Tenure (JDTC), D.C. Judicial Nomination Commission (JNC), and Neighborhood Legal Services Program (NLSP) board.

The deadline to apply for these vacancies is Friday, September 12.

  • JDTC/JNC: All terms are for six years. Applicants for these commission positions must be active members of the D.C. Bar and bona fide residents of the District of Columbia.

  • NLSP: The Board of Governors is accepting applications from D.C. Bar members who are interested in serving on the NLSP board of directors. Candidates must be licensed attorneys who are supportive of the Legal Services Corporation Act and have an interest in, and knowledge of, the delivery of quality legal services to low-income individuals.

To apply for any of these openings, please submit a résumé and a cover letter stating the entity on which you would like to serve and a description of relevant qualifications and experience.

Appointments to the JDTC, JNC, and NLSP will be approved by the Board of Governors in December. All applicants will be notified regarding the status of their applications shortly thereafter.

JNC Recommends Three Candidates for Superior Court Vacancy

The District of Columbia Judicial Nomination Commission has recommended to the president three candidates for a judicial vacancy on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia created by the retirement of Judge Heidi M. Pasichow. The president has 60 days to select a nominee to fill this vacancy.
