After three rounds of arguments spanning two weekends, Georgetown University Law Center prevailed over five other law school teams to win the 2024 D.C. Cup Moot Court Competition at the D.C. Court of Appeals on February 23.

Judicial Nomination Commission announced a vacancy on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia resulting from the resignation of Judge Rupa Ranga Puttagunta, effective April 12, 2024. The commission invites qualified individuals to apply for the vacancy by noon on March 21.

On February 22 the Superior Court of the District of Columbia issued Administrative Order 24-02 authorizing Evident Charge to inspect, compile, and analyze juvenile case records to validate the Court Social Services Division’s intake risk-assessment instrument and develop a tool that will inform detention and release conditions.

The D.C. Bar joins the legal community in mourning the loss of civil rights champion Stephen J. Pollak, former president of the Bar and who many considered the “godfather” of the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center. Pollak passed away on February 3 at age 95.

The District of Columbia Judicial Nomination Commission (JNC) has recommended to President Biden three candidates for the judicial vacancy on the D.C. Court of Appeals created by the resignation of Judge Loren L. AliKhan last December. The president has 60 days to select a nominee for this vacancy.
